Views from April 2011 craft shows

This April has already hosted two weekend craft shows. I get excited for each show as it presents the opportunity to showcase my fabric- and for me to play with it. As I like to tell people- buying fabric is a very tactile experience. Each show presents different learning opportunities and new perspectives. Here’s my latest example. I used to have signs that read: Please touch but I realized that people see Please do not touch, as that is what they are used to seeing. My new sign reads: Feel these…. so soft!

The first weekend in April was the juried Melrose Arts Festival. This was new because booths were primarily vertical panel displays (not tables). I was also a bit nervous, since I had never set up in this format. Since my work is large and colorful I was excited to hang it up. Here’s a picture of my booth:

The next weekend was the Northern Lights Quilt Guild show. I’ve been told numerous times, “quilters love batiks” so off I went. My first quilt show, I was pretty excited and have done some quilting research. Huge thanks to my friend Michelle for her connection to the guild as well as fabric advice the night before. I know am the proud owner of a rotary cutter, as well as fat quarters. Here they are:If you want to see more pictures of my two recent displays, and lots of colorful fabric, click here.
